John Broich is the author of Blood, Oil, and the Axis, Squadron: Ending the African Slave Trade, and London: Water and the Making of the Modern City. He received his History PhD from Stanford University in 2005 and has taught  at Case Western Reserve University since 2007. He has expertise in the history of race, colonialism, and empire; WWII; the roots of white supremacy; and public health history. He’s published essays and history articles in numerous publications ranging from BBC History magazine to the Washington Post to Slate.com.
